You, Our Next Thriving Student?

I purchased a couple Manhattan Prep books, ETS's Official Guide, different phone apps, etc. yet I ended up using Magoosh's online application almost exclusively. I work full time and was only able to study after work and weekends. I was exhausted most nights after work before I even sat down to study... without the structure that Magoosh provides I would not have been able to be nearly as effective. I did not want to take the test more than once and my target was a 330. I scored a 331; what else can I say? Magoosh was literally a fraction of the price of the other paid resources. It has everything you need, trust me.

Magoosh helped keep me on track, at a much lower price point than other test prep systems. I followed the one-month plan, and was happy to do small pieces of prep each day. While I couldn't keep up the pace with a full-time job (as the guide warned me), I still believe Magoosh helped me a lot. I learned general strategies (number sense, not looking at the verbal answers without my own answer), a sense for timing, and most importantly, I always had a plan to follow so I couldn't second-guess myself.

I graduated with my MA in 2005, so it has been 10 years since I've been in school and 13 years since I took the GRE! I work full-time and am a mom to two young children, so Magoosh has been a lifesaver. I appreciated three things in particular: 1) the videos to help refresh those dusty math concepts, 2) that your practice questions were harder than the actual test, 3) your apps (so I could watch videos, use the vocab builder, or look at math and verbal flashcards on the go). All of those things helped me get a 324, which is not as high as others, but I will take it! Thank you, thank you for your help! Special shout out to Mike and Chris - I feel like I know you from watching every single lesson video. :) Thanks to the whole Magoosh team! I wish you had been around when I took the GRE in 2002.

Maths questions that I found here were really good especially very hard and hard ones, other prep sites had too easy questions that didn't help me.
As for verbal it was my weakest link, so exceptionally lucid explanations helped me a lot. The practice questions were hard which pushed me to work harder which helped me immensely in scoring 323 on worst possible scenerio(as I was sleep deprived, had cold and high fever on exam day :( )
Plus due to some task as I was not able to prepare in time they extended my subscription two times for free that was really helpful. :)

Magoosh helped me with many of the GRE math problems, some of which were almost verbatim to ones I'd practiced. This saved me precious time on the test. The problem explanations and strategy videos were the best.

The math module topics were all extremely well explained and incredibly helpful. They gave me the hardcore refresher I needed to exceed my own expectations

I liked the videos because it was a great way to review math concepts and learn tricks for the verbal section. I especially like that in some of the math videos, Mike tells you that if you already have a good grasp on X (fractions, divisibility, algebra, etc.), that you should just skip to the end. This kept me from wasting time and watching videos that went over processes I was already familiar with. Also, the practice tests were great. It really gave me a good sense for the timing of the test and prepared me for taking a test that is administered on the computer. Lastly, the study guide helped me pace myself when I was preparing for the test.
I think people's chief reservation in using a site like Magoosh is that you don't have access to an actual instructor, but that's not true at all. I emailed Magoosh at least 3 times to ask questions about various practice questions and examples -- every time I received a response within 24 hours.

Was like a prep course but more focused on individual study which I thought was essential to success in an exam such as the GRE. Learning strategies through repeated practice really helped with the tricky, almost "unfair" questions that didn't really test knowledge or intelligence but tested question strategy. The pool of questions was diverse and plentiful, and the answer explanations really helped pinpoint the thought process behind each correct response. On a more pragmatic level, it is also much cheaper than courses available, but for those who can self-study somewhat effectively then the layout of this website will be more than sufficient.

Yes, the techniques taught by Chris are very helpful. The tutors from Magoosh offer excellent explanations when I ask them for help.

I followed the 4 week study schedule to a T and it was so helpful! I also really liked the estimated score tool for the practice questions.

The huge number of practice problems was essential to my success on GRE! I also loved the interface. It mimicked the real GRE interface leaving few surprises.

It allowed me to answer questions faster and with bigger precision. It also gave me certain confidence and familiarity with the questions.

It provided me with several useful resources and with a study plan that helped me in organizing my weeks before the exam in the best way, even though I adapted it to my needs. I found some of the material particularly useful; the vocabulary flashcards, for example, gave a major contribution to enhancing my performance in the verbal section and were of vital importance to a person like me who is not a native-speaker. A positive feature of the study plan is that it suggests also books and websites different from Magoosh, thus inviting students to study on different material, enabling them to be readier to face the unexpected during the exam.

Great video explanations for exercises, great practices, and very good tips (especially for the Verbal sections)

Magoosh's problems were definitely more difficult than the GRE's test problems. For the previous test, I used other materials that were same level if not easier than the GRE and therefore I was not improving. I just needed more difficult problems because I felt like I was fairly competent with the previous material I was studying for the first test; this was not the case as shown by my first GRE score. Furthermore, I like how Magoosh teaches you strategies that will help you see differently.

The best part about Magoosh is the many many (well written!) practice problems, as well as a detailed explanation for each question. I especially liked the math questions which I felt were slight more difficult than the actual test questions. It also let me become accustomed to all the tricks that the GRE will try and throw. All the mobile phone apps were also very helpful too. Overall, a BIG THANK YOU for this service!

Practice problems and videos and study schedules - the whole package really helped. Very flexible. I'll keep using it to improve my math score.
