You, Our Next Thriving Student?

I purchased a couple Manhattan Prep books, ETS's Official Guide, different phone apps, etc. yet I ended up using Magoosh's online application almost exclusively. I work full time and was only able to study after work and weekends. I was exhausted most nights after work before I even sat down to study... without the structure that Magoosh provides I would not have been able to be nearly as effective. I did not want to take the test more than once and my target was a 330. I scored a 331; what else can I say? Magoosh was literally a fraction of the price of the other paid resources. It has everything you need, trust me.

Magoosh helped keep me on track, at a much lower price point than other test prep systems. I followed the one-month plan, and was happy to do small pieces of prep each day. While I couldn't keep up the pace with a full-time job (as the guide warned me), I still believe Magoosh helped me a lot. I learned general strategies (number sense, not looking at the verbal answers without my own answer), a sense for timing, and most importantly, I always had a plan to follow so I couldn't second-guess myself.

It served as a math refresher (I didn't have too long to study, so I couldn't use it to the fullest, but what videos I could watch were very helpful!), and it gave some great strategies for how to tackle verbal questions. I also used a ton of vocab flashcards! Most helpful were the videos about the writing section. No nonsense!

Magoosh allowed me to use a concrete study plan that produced real results, helped me gauge my progress, and allowed me to feel confident walking in on test day.

At first, with 3 months to go before the test, I had high hopes of following the 3 month study schedule to the T. However, I was also moving halfway across the country. Many predictable but unpredicted interruptions got in the way, so while continuing to study as much as I could, I switched to the 2-3 month schedule and then finally to the 1 month schedule with only a few weeks remaining. While I felt disappointed that I wasn't able to keep up my original plan, I realize in retrospect that those schedules still helped me to fit studying into a very hectic time. I was also disappointed that I wasn't able to watch all the lesson videos or go through all the study questions and explanation videos. However, they were indispensable in helping me to identify my weak spots and then boost my confidence once they helped me understand the concepts. Magoosh has given me such a leg up in my application process and made a fairly smooth ride of what could have been tortuous.

The verbal and writing sections were what I cared about, and Magoosh had the perfect combination of clear explanations and lots of good practice problems.

Magoosh helped me do a quick review of all the material required for the test. Though I didn't reach my goal, this was due to insufficient time and not to the quality of the product. I definitely plan to use Magoosh again if I decide to retake the test.

Before I signed up for Magoosh, I took an ETS practice test and got 160 on math and 162 on verbal. I spent most of my Magoosh time studying for math, but my math score didn't change at all, so I don't really feel that Magoosh did anything for my math score. With verbal, however, I feel that Magoosh taught me how to look at the GRE questions the way the question writers did. I stopped thinking, "What do I think the answer is?" and instead thought, "What do the question writers intend the answer to be?" That shift in perception really helped my verbal score. The Magoosh Vocabulary app was also helpful.

Magoosh was great in preparing me for the math by having questions that were harder than appeared on the actual test.

On practice GREs, my quantitative score went from the 18th percentile to the 48th percentile.

Thorough Math review and lessons provided good strategies for the verbal. The practice tests were good- I used mostly the custom ones. The vocab and math flashcards were also helpful. Actual test was much easier than Magoosh practice problems in Math.

It was absolutely critical in re-teaching me the math strategies and fundamental principles that I haven't used in years. The verbal lessons provided some great approaches to the reading comprehension and text completion questions. Overall, this study program was extremely valuable, and I'm very glad I went with this choice.

My score improved by the equivalent of 20 points on both the quantitative and the verbal. More importantly, I was able to relearn much of the math, which I had not seen since I last took my GREs in 2006.
