You, Our Next Thriving Student?

I purchased a couple Manhattan Prep books, ETS's Official Guide, different phone apps, etc. yet I ended up using Magoosh's online application almost exclusively. I work full time and was only able to study after work and weekends. I was exhausted most nights after work before I even sat down to study... without the structure that Magoosh provides I would not have been able to be nearly as effective. I did not want to take the test more than once and my target was a 330. I scored a 331; what else can I say? Magoosh was literally a fraction of the price of the other paid resources. It has everything you need, trust me.

Magoosh helped keep me on track, at a much lower price point than other test prep systems. I followed the one-month plan, and was happy to do small pieces of prep each day. While I couldn't keep up the pace with a full-time job (as the guide warned me), I still believe Magoosh helped me a lot. I learned general strategies (number sense, not looking at the verbal answers without my own answer), a sense for timing, and most importantly, I always had a plan to follow so I couldn't second-guess myself.

I had been using it to passively study for almost 6 months and the most helpful thing was that it actually looks like the real test in terms of formatting, complete with the clock, calculator, ability to flag questions, and everything! I'm too impatient to watch instructional videos, so I liked that each question also had a written explanation, and I could watch some videos here and there at my leisure.

The math videos were the best part. They helped tremendously to add insight to topics not seen since junior high school.

Magoosh helped a lot. I used it only for maths, since for the English section I do not have any problem with texts or logic. My only issue was vocabulary (non native English speaker), so my only preparation for the English part was to learn as much vocabulary as possible. But for the maths part, the video explanations were great as well as the possibility to choose by level and topic.

Magoosh helped me by providing brilliant practice questions which made the GRE seem very easy. The videos were also great and helped me understand the concepts quickly, especially on the verbal section. Verbal reasoning being my weaker link, I really liked the approaches to solve various types of verbal reasoning questions. The approaches helped me complete the verbal section just in the nick of time and score 160 on it.

The video explanations for each practice problem are great (especially on the math problems). It's one thing reading through how to get to an answer, it's much more helpful having a video where you're being "taught" how to do a problem step by step. Definitely would recommend using these, even if you get a problem right.

Practice questions and videos - and a practice plan to at least get me started and figure out what worked for me.

The video lessons and explanations for each practice question were very helpful, particularly in understanding the nuances of the test and clever strategies for success. I also really appreciated the Magoosh vocabulary flash card application- it was great for a few minutes here and there, riding public transportation, etc. I found it grew my verbal score immensely.

Magoosh really helps me with my verbal. The lessons teach me several tips on how to answer the verbal questions and help me to get a general idea of the relacationships between sentences. Although I haven't gone over all the vocabularies,I still got 153 for my verbal.

Magoosh gave me the structure and resources I needed to be as prepared and confident as possible for the GRE. Just beginning the process was overwhelming, and when I found Magoosh based on other extremely positive reviews, I felt I had all the resources and direction I needed in one place. I absolutely LOVED the video lessons...after all the time listening to them, it was as if I had Chris and Mike with me the day of the test. I also appreciated that they addressed the very real psychological aspects of the GRE and addressed them as well.

The flashcards are really helpful. The explanation of each problem is very precise and supportive.

It gave very accurate questions that in many cases were slightly more difficult than what I encountered on the actual GRE exam, so by the time I sat for the exam I was very well-acquainted with the types of questions I saw and was prepared for all of them.

I felt insecure especially about my math skills and Magoosh provided the best preparation possible. I loved the videos - I needed a complete refresher course on all the math, so being able to go through them all from basic to more advanced allowed me to retain all the information.
The Help feature was great too since it took me some extra explanations to understand the more difficult math problems. You can't get that personalized help from a pricey textbook.
Besides the extensive coverage provided by the videos, the most helpful thing about Magoosh was the online practice tests. I took two before the real one and it was invaluable to have an experience as close as possible to the real thing so you're not thrown off by little things on test day.

I only had 10 days to prepare, and the magoosh videos helped me understand good strategies to maximize my score. This is particularly true for the Verbal section, which was my weakness.

Magoosh helped me immensely in my gre preparation. Verbal practice part was phenomenal and it really helped to boost my score in the verbal reasoning part of the test. Magoosh's Maths practice question are of higher difficulty level than the actual test questions.

Magoosh Verbal lesson videos and video explanation for each practise problem, played a tremendous role in improving my vocab score. The Very-Hard Math practise problems offered by Magoosh, set the foundation to tackle convoluted questions, solutions to which does not follow a common trend and requires an out of the box thinking.

Magoosh has been such a great help to my preparation for the GRE test!
When I first started preparing for the test, I found it really challenging, especially the verbal section, since I am not a native English speaker. I watched all of the Magoosh video lessons on the verbal section, and some of them I watched several times. I found the related lessons posted below each question really helpful, and I would usually watch the lessons again to review the concepts or techniques tested in that question especially when I got the answer wrong for the first time. I also carefully read the text completion and the frequently asked questions by Magoosh students. Since some of the questions raised by other students are similar to my own, reading the answers provided by Magoosh experts to those questions really helped me to gain a better understanding of the question and a solid grasp of the concepts tested in that question.
Another wonderful thing about Magoosh is that it provides you with ample opportunities to customize your own practice. This means I can focus on practicing a particular type of question on specific concepts when I finish watching the related video lessons. I usually finished these practices with a certain time limit so that I could get an idea of how well I had learned about the concepts tested in those practice problems. I also customized practice problems to review the questions which I got wrong before or felt confused about when I first encountered them (usually the flagged problems). I believe the best way for me to tell whether I have learned from my mistakes is to redo the practice problems that I got wrong before.
Probably what helped me most in preparing for the GRE test is to take mock tests on Magoosh. I took 3 mock tests on Magoosh, and 2 practice tests on Powerprep provided by ETS. After each mock test, I would go over all the test questions, and focus particularly on the questions I did not get right. I think perhaps I spent much more time on analyzing these questions and reflecting on my thinking process or reasoning behind these questions after each mock test than on actually taking the test. Perhaps just because I effectively learned from my mistakes, I was able to do better in each mock test than the previous ones, and I am very delighted that I gained the highest ever grade in the real test!!
Preparing for the GRE is undoubtedly one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had.
