You, Our Next Thriving Student?

I purchased a couple Manhattan Prep books, ETS's Official Guide, different phone apps, etc. yet I ended up using Magoosh's online application almost exclusively. I work full time and was only able to study after work and weekends. I was exhausted most nights after work before I even sat down to study... without the structure that Magoosh provides I would not have been able to be nearly as effective. I did not want to take the test more than once and my target was a 330. I scored a 331; what else can I say? Magoosh was literally a fraction of the price of the other paid resources. It has everything you need, trust me.

Magoosh helped keep me on track, at a much lower price point than other test prep systems. I followed the one-month plan, and was happy to do small pieces of prep each day. While I couldn't keep up the pace with a full-time job (as the guide warned me), I still believe Magoosh helped me a lot. I learned general strategies (number sense, not looking at the verbal answers without my own answer), a sense for timing, and most importantly, I always had a plan to follow so I couldn't second-guess myself.

It gave very accurate questions that in many cases were slightly more difficult than what I encountered on the actual GRE exam, so by the time I sat for the exam I was very well-acquainted with the types of questions I saw and was prepared for all of them.

I felt insecure especially about my math skills and Magoosh provided the best preparation possible. I loved the videos - I needed a complete refresher course on all the math, so being able to go through them all from basic to more advanced allowed me to retain all the information.
The Help feature was great too since it took me some extra explanations to understand the more difficult math problems. You can't get that personalized help from a pricey textbook.
Besides the extensive coverage provided by the videos, the most helpful thing about Magoosh was the online practice tests. I took two before the real one and it was invaluable to have an experience as close as possible to the real thing so you're not thrown off by little things on test day.

I only had 10 days to prepare, and the magoosh videos helped me understand good strategies to maximize my score. This is particularly true for the Verbal section, which was my weakness.

Magoosh helped me immensely in my gre preparation. Verbal practice part was phenomenal and it really helped to boost my score in the verbal reasoning part of the test. Magoosh's Maths practice question are of higher difficulty level than the actual test questions.

Magoosh Verbal lesson videos and video explanation for each practise problem, played a tremendous role in improving my vocab score. The Very-Hard Math practise problems offered by Magoosh, set the foundation to tackle convoluted questions, solutions to which does not follow a common trend and requires an out of the box thinking.

Magoosh has been such a great help to my preparation for the GRE test!
When I first started preparing for the test, I found it really challenging, especially the verbal section, since I am not a native English speaker. I watched all of the Magoosh video lessons on the verbal section, and some of them I watched several times. I found the related lessons posted below each question really helpful, and I would usually watch the lessons again to review the concepts or techniques tested in that question especially when I got the answer wrong for the first time. I also carefully read the text completion and the frequently asked questions by Magoosh students. Since some of the questions raised by other students are similar to my own, reading the answers provided by Magoosh experts to those questions really helped me to gain a better understanding of the question and a solid grasp of the concepts tested in that question.
Another wonderful thing about Magoosh is that it provides you with ample opportunities to customize your own practice. This means I can focus on practicing a particular type of question on specific concepts when I finish watching the related video lessons. I usually finished these practices with a certain time limit so that I could get an idea of how well I had learned about the concepts tested in those practice problems. I also customized practice problems to review the questions which I got wrong before or felt confused about when I first encountered them (usually the flagged problems). I believe the best way for me to tell whether I have learned from my mistakes is to redo the practice problems that I got wrong before.
Probably what helped me most in preparing for the GRE test is to take mock tests on Magoosh. I took 3 mock tests on Magoosh, and 2 practice tests on Powerprep provided by ETS. After each mock test, I would go over all the test questions, and focus particularly on the questions I did not get right. I think perhaps I spent much more time on analyzing these questions and reflecting on my thinking process or reasoning behind these questions after each mock test than on actually taking the test. Perhaps just because I effectively learned from my mistakes, I was able to do better in each mock test than the previous ones, and I am very delighted that I gained the highest ever grade in the real test!!
Preparing for the GRE is undoubtedly one of the most memorable experiences I have ever had. I want to say thank you to the Magoosh team, who has been such a patient, supportive tutor guiding me through my GRE journey, encouraging and empowering me all along the way. It was so helpful! I didn't remember any math skills, having taken all those classes in early High School, and I learned so many test-taking strategies through the videos. The study plans provided on the blog are super helpful in structuring the ENORMOUS amount of information and materials out there. I used the 6 months math beginner plan with the NOVA math book instead of Barron. The videos, especially math, really helped me understand the material. Never once did I watch a video and think, huh, I still don't understand that. Thanks a lot to Mike! I didn't do too well on the quant section on test day compared to practice tests - I guess I got a bit flustered, that's not mikes fault. Nevertheless, I improved my quant score from 154 (first practice test after around a month of studying) to 163 on the actual test. The Magoosh team always responded to my queries within a few hours. I really appreciated getting a quick reply. All in all, I was very happy with Magoosh and a big thank you to the team!

Magoosh was the reason I was able to improve my score so drastically. I am extremely grateful for the quick responses I received for personal questions as well as all the well explained answers to practice questions. Prior to my previous test I used ETS prep materials and did not feel as well prepared.

Magoosh prepared me for the GRE by helping me identify which subjects I needed to study and which pitfalls to avoid, so that on exam day I was fully prepared for anything ETS threw at me.

It helped me get familiar with the structure of the exam.

Reading and vocabulary

The math and verbal were very helpful. I loved Mike's math videos the most. His manner of speaking was very personable, which helps when you are studying for what seems like the biggest test of your life! His way of explaining things was very clear. The AWA component was helpful, but I needed more help so I borrowed a Kaplan big book (sorry!) to prep for the AWA section.

I didn't know a lot of the math tricks required for solving some types of questions quickly: I found the GRE lesson videos and practice problems extremely helpful for this.

I really needed stats help for the quantitative session and lots of verbal practice. The flashcard app was especially helpful and I noticed tons of the vocabulary showing up in the passages and questions. Having done so many practice sets made me feel really confident going into my test day. Magoosh definitely helped me get my timing down right and decide how to attack each problem.
