You, Our Next Thriving Student?

I purchased a couple Manhattan Prep books, ETS's Official Guide, different phone apps, etc. yet I ended up using Magoosh's online application almost exclusively. I work full time and was only able to study after work and weekends. I was exhausted most nights after work before I even sat down to study... without the structure that Magoosh provides I would not have been able to be nearly as effective. I did not want to take the test more than once and my target was a 330. I scored a 331; what else can I say? Magoosh was literally a fraction of the price of the other paid resources. It has everything you need, trust me.

Magoosh helped keep me on track, at a much lower price point than other test prep systems. I followed the one-month plan, and was happy to do small pieces of prep each day. While I couldn't keep up the pace with a full-time job (as the guide warned me), I still believe Magoosh helped me a lot. I learned general strategies (number sense, not looking at the verbal answers without my own answer), a sense for timing, and most importantly, I always had a plan to follow so I couldn't second-guess myself.

Magoosh helped me a ton. The videos are well done and the practice questions are very accurate to what appears on the actual test.

Am 43 years-old and a father of two. Had not factored a quadratic equation in over 25 years but somehow thought it possible to take the GRE without any supplemental study course - other than the practice tests and math review on ETS website. Did okay my first time with a 157 verbal, 151 quant but that's not good enough to get into Harvard is it? My deadline to apply at Harvard was on December 1st, so I plunked the $79 on Magoosh knowing my money would be coming back to me if I didn't increase my score after 30 days. After 31 days, I took the exam a second time and got 160/160. If I could have had more time, I would have devoted 6 days a week to Magoosh instead of 4, and finished all of the practice questions. Instead, the last week I used the computer estimation to see my math score needed the bigger boost, so I focused solely on Math the last week, rather than finishing the vocab flash cards or doing more verbal practice questions. Am happy with the trade off, but if I could have done it all over again, I would have signed up for Magoosh the first time and studied for the GRE more thoroughly. Am sure I would have been even closer to 170/170 given more time! Anyway, if I do end up getting into Harvard, would love to update my review in early May, but I'm feeling optimistic - which is strange - because it's a new feeling and one I never had before with a 151 quant score. But 160/160? I feel like those are Barry Bonds numbers considering how long I'd been out of the classroom and with such little prep time. Magoosh, you guys all rock and I can't express how much that $99 investment may be the best money ever spent for the future ... and for my entire family if it means getting into a top tier school thanks to all of you. Now I can't wait to see what comes in my mailbox next Spring!

I forgot what math was; Magoosh helped me remember.

I didn't study at all the first time I took it -- literally walked in without any prep. The main thing I took away from Magoosh was the video lessons, especially math. I'm a visual and auditory learner, so watching videos was the best way for me to review/learn math. Having explanations on practice questions was key. The flashcards were great for reviewing vocab. The video explanations were also a good way to avoid trap answers on the verbal section

The video explanations for practice problems really helped with the learning process. It's possible to get practice problems anywhere, but video explanations are unique to Magoosh and are, in fact, one of the tools that helped me prepare most. Since I haven't taken math since high school, I really needed a program that would teach me everything again -- this is exactly what Magoosh did. The verbal strategies were also helpful and incorporating those tips into my test-taking had good results.

It was instrumental in showing me the type of problems that would be on the test.

Magoosh helped a great deal to understand what to expect on the test and to sharpen my skills in math, verbal, and writing.

Chris Lele's video lessons for the verbal section were extremely helpful.

For both verbal and math, the practice problems and video explanations helped with problem types and pacing.

Familiarity with a subject I haven't touched in a decade.

Magoosh provided me with all the essential knowledge for taking the GRE. The mass amount of practice test is very helpful and the personal response from your staff is also fast and thorough.

Magoosh seems harder than the actual GRE, which helps during the exam because you become faster. The timed exercises is a deal breaker. I couldn't finish the exam the first time I took the GRE, so time management was key.

Magoosh helped me by providing excellent material to study and by helping me to plan my study.

Improve Verbal

I focused exclusively on my quant score since I had not studied that material since high school, about 10 years ago. Going through about half of the practice questions and accompanying explanations was enough to raise my quant score 10 points. The alternate explanations, and tips on some of the tricks the GRE likes to use on test takers, were invaluable on test day. I would also stress that I was never a poor math student, but had simply forgotten what I'd learned in high school.

The videos were great! I appreciated the focus on testing strategy alongside material. I also loved the vocabulary builder app - it helped me learn on the go!

I wasn't satisfied with my original Quant score of 163 and I was further frustrated because I felt I had studied quite a bit before my first attempt. I used Magoosh for only 1 week before my second attempt to target Quant areas that I thought I needed to work on. I also found that the hard and very hard questions were challenging enough to prepare for the real test. I am just thrilled that Magoosh prepared me so well for the test and I want to thank Mike especially for his awesome video lessons.
